Each participating team shall consist of a minimum of 8 and a maximum of 15 players, who may be fielded in each game. Before each game begins, the team members listed on the game record sheet must be presented at the scorers' table.
Games are played in 4 periods of 10 minutes each, with a running clock, except for the last minute of the second quarter and the last two minutes of the game. During this time, the clock stops whenever the referee blows the whistle. The clock is also always stopped during free throws, in the event of an injury to a player on court and during time-outs. There is a 1-minute break between periods and a 3-minute break at half-time. In the event of a tie, an extra period (overtime) is played after a 1-minute break; if the tie persists, play continues until one of the two teams scores (golden basket).
Category exceptions (stopped clock, according to standard competition rules):
Each team has a timeout in the first half and two timeouts in the second half. Timeout is conceded following the rules of FIBA rules.
All players listed on the game record sheet may be fielded freely, with no limit on substitutions and no minimum playing time. Substitutions may be made whenever the referee blows the whistle. Substitutions are granted in dead-ball situations, even when the clock is not stopped.
In the event of a jump-ball situation, or at the start of each period, possession goes to the team indicated by the alternating-possession arrow.
Tournament-specific rule. In the U12 (Minibasket) category, a three-point basket is valid when the shot is started and completed from outside the three-second area. In the U14 (Infantil) category, a three-point basket is valid when the shot is started from beyond the 6.25 m line.
Anti passivity rule (art. 30 of the Official Rules of Mini Basketball) will be applied, the offense penalized with the ball given to the opponent. This will be penalized at the discretion of the referees.
Zone defences are prohibited. The infringement is penalised, first, with a warning; second, with a technical foul on the coach; and third, with the loss of the game by the offending team by 2–0. It is called at the referees' discretion. The U16 (Cadete) boys' and girls' categories are exempt from this rule.
In the event of a shirt-colour clash, the team listed second on the game schedule shall always change. If that team is unable to do so for any reason, the change is assigned to the team designated as home team
Teams must be present on court 15 minutes before game time. Any unjustified delay will forfeit the match 2-0.
The Tournament Organisation has a single Control and Disciplinary Committee, which is the disciplinary body of the Tournament. Its decisions are taken with immediate effect, are final, and cannot be appealed. Participating teams undertake to accept the decisions made by the Committee, with no right of appeal. All teams must appoint a single person to represent them before the Organisation. Teams are responsible for ensuring that no other individuals attempt to clarify or resolve incidents with the Organisation, as they will not be taken into account.
The Organization reserves the right to modify the game schedule, if they need to, always for good reasons or force majeure.
The valid score is the one shown on the court scoreboard, which is not closed under any circumstances. At the end of each game, record sheets are checked on the spot and, once signed, cannot be appealed. Copies are not provided to participating teams.
